CABLE DUCT THERMAL GROUTING

Specialist Thermal Grouting for Power Cable Infrastructure

Thermal grouting uses specialist grout material for large underground and ducted power cables to support heat transfer away from the cable and help the system operate as intended. Applications can include offshore wind export cables coming ashore, high-voltage underground routes and interconnectors.

GCE combines specialist grouting experience, material knowledge and practical site techniques to manage water displacement and create a consistent, high-quality thermal grout infill.

SPECIALIST INSTALLATION

Why it matters

At offshore wind cable landfalls, thermal grouting fills the space around export cables within ducts, helping transfer heat into the surrounding ground. Effective installation reduces the risk of overheating and supports the cable's designed power capacity, making material performance and consistent grout placement essential.

Our capabilities include:

  • Review of drawings, specifications and cable duct arrangements

  • Material selection and installation planning

  • Water displacement and controlled duct infilling

  • Specialist mixing, pumping and placement equipment

  • Experienced grouting personnel

  • Quality checks and completion documentation

GCE has experience installing Cebo Conduct Gel, a thermally conductive grout used in cable infrastructure applications. Material selection and installation methods are determined by the technical requirements of each project.
